I've always spent quite a bit of time learning about art and discovering those skills in the creative scene but none of that compares to the tyrant of university. this week I started Uni off in my animation and illustration course. my first out of 3 lessons in a week started with animation practice, as someone who have never even touched an animating software I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly I got the hang of it. I do watch my fair share of animated content which gave me a little insight to the ins and outs of how animation and key frames are presented. our first task was to create a short animation of a bouncy ball bouncing across the screen, not too bad and I managed to get the skeleton of it done within the first lesson. with having used tv paint( the animating software) effectively I had a lot of confidence going in the next week.
the day after was contexts and sequential structures... which I missed due to looking at the wrong time table and sitting in an empty room for 20 mins. wrong place. wrong time.
Thursday, the day after was illustration practice. we grouped up and all walked to the centre of a decently big shopping centre and were tasked to sketch, paint and ink people as they walked by. THIS WAS IMPOSSIBLE just as you chose your victim for your creepy stalker activities they would disappear, turn round a corner or straight up sprint away. 2hours had past and all I had to show for it was a couple pages of floating legs or heads. after a swift break and a Waitrose meal deal I was ready to get it right this time, this time I would not even take my eye of them nor my pencil to the page. I captured a few good characters and even switched mediums to different kinds pencil to coloured pencils, I found that coloured pencils have a great way of translating depth as well as form. that wrapped up week one of university, definitely not too hard but i would have liked to express myself more.
