Week 2 : going outside

The second week of my studies started just as the last, on the weekend I had been working on my sketches of people in motion. Just like last week I had animation practice for three hours. We were essentially given the time to perfect our bouncing ball animations from last week and do things like add colour, background or turn it into a completely new character or object. For mine I kept with a regular ball, but I coloured it red with a green spot to show the rotation of the ball while its moving, then i added a quick watercolour background of some trees. This gave the whole scenario of when you’re a kid and the one of your friends kicks the ball a little too hard. Wednesday was our sequential structures and contexts which was a lecture on the contexts of illustration such as line, colour, shape, form and space.i took a few notes but made sure not to overexert myself. : )

I was unable to attend my illustration class on the Thursday but from what I understand from the brief it was on linear perspective, for this practice we had to go outside and choose a building and draw it in different mediums on A5 size. At first, I had no idea where to start, step one: go outside? Rough. But I got the hang of linear lines eventually, for most of my drawings I used a calligraphy pen that I had just bought myself and this worked well, I enjoyed working with it. The calligraphy pen allowed me to make large bold lines as well and consecutive thin lines which would allow a great range of shading.
